Working experience

  • 2004 Feb – 2004 Aug: Stagiaire for a period of 6 months by INRIA-LORIA laboratories of Nancy, France. The goal was the develop of a software demonstrator for my final master thesis (telecommunication engineering “Laurea”). Main topics faced were Java programming, Web Service technology, industry automation devices and OPC XML protocol
  • 2005 Jan – 2005 Apr: Consultant by Datamat S.p.A. in Rome, Italy. The goal was to achieve the integration and coding of an AAA solution (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) into the EuQoS EU project (involving other 25 partners, with Telefonica I&D as prime – www.euqos.org ). My work output was a Java API for AAA using OpenDiameter and JNI technology;

Involved into Projects Management, Evaluation boards, Projects Validation campaigns. Laboratory experience with DVB hardware, protocols, ground stations and professional receivers. Confidence in the use of applications over Satellite (including DVB- RCS bi-directional links), PEP, simulators of satellite networks, multicast data distribution. Knowledge of networking management/monitoring tools and security aspects.
  • 2006 June – Now: Ph.D student in “Space systems and technology” and Support Engineer at University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. Involved into National/EU/ESA projects about satellite communications for tele-medicine and study of satellite networks protocols. Work Package leader in TOP project (Project home page) for simulation activities.
  • 2008 July – 2008 Dec: Visiting student at UCLA Computer Science dpt. in Los Angeles (CA), dealing with TCP protocol optimizations for wireless terminals performing vertical handoff to satellite links. Class-project tutor.
